Preface:
What do you mean, are You Bad Enough for Heaven?
How far do you think your righteousness will get you when you stand before a sinless, Holy God in eternity? Will you boast of your success, generosity, religious service, and piety? Did you give to the building programs at church, sing in the choir, and teach Sunday School?
Or, on the other hand, are you thinking that there really isn't much about you to be proud of? Maybe you know that even on a good day, you aren't going to impress God with your righteousness. You have struggled with sin, lost, and know that you are worthy of God's judgment. Is this you? If it is, rejoice because you may be bad enough to actually make it to heaven.
Here is what the Lord Jesus Christ had to say in a parable about these two types of people:
The Righteous Man -
Luke 18:10-14 (KJV) Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
The Sinner -
Luke 18:13-14(KJV) And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
Likewise, while the Lord Jesus Christ hung dying on the cross at Calvary, two condemned thieves were dying with the Savior. Although both were sinners and were getting the punishment for their crimes, only one recognized that he was getting what he deserved. Read the following:
Luke 23:39-43 (KJV)And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
Therefore, which type of person do you see yourself as? Are you needy and know it or are you oblivious to your condition and proud. The Bible says:
James 4:6 (KJV) But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Are you proud and satisfied with your condition or are you humbled by what you are and realize you are in trouble? If you died this instant, do you know where you would spend eternity? These pages are written in love and truth to those who are not sure where they will go when they die and those who realize their condition and need for a savior. We pray that God will grant you the grace to call on Him for your salvation and that YOU do not leave without being sure of where you will spend eternity. The consequences are eternal and there are no second chances after you die. Please consider these scriptures with your heart. By responding to God in the way He prescribes in His Word (The King James Bible), you can know you will go to heaven.
HEB 2:3 (KJV): How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
