What do you mean, am I good enough for hell?
How would you characterize yourself and your life? Would you consider yourself a good person that does what is right? Are you a good moral character who would not intentionally harm anyone or anybody? Are you doing your best to make the world a better place because you were here? Can you say "I never lie, cheat, steal, kill, curse, drink, fornicate, or do any of those "deadly sins"? DO you say, "Surely I am good enough to make it to heaven because I am not like that bunch of hypocrites or sinners?"
Well my friend, you may truly be "good" enough to make it to hell. Hell is full of "good" people. Consider what the Bible has to say about how God sees our "goodness" and decide if you want to appear before God in your own "righteousness".
Isaiah 64:6 (KJV) But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Romans 3:10-12 (KJV) As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Jesus once told the multitudes that were following Him about the righteous they would have to obtain to ever make it to heaven. The scribes and Pharisees strived to meet every letter of the Laws of God, even to the tithing of small amounts of spices. They were the "good" and "righteous" people of the day. However, this did not apparently impress Jesus Christ.
Matthew 5:20 (KJV) For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Obviously, if these "godly, righteous, religious folks" were not going to make it on their merits, how will you??? Read on to understand why Hell was created and how you can escape it. However, you will stand before God one day. Do you really want to meet him based on your "goodness"?
This is the issue that separates Christianity from other religions of the world. Because man could not make it to God by being "good", Jesus Christ came to live a perfect, sinless life, under the law. Through His perfect life and substitutional death, He satisfied the judgment of a righteous God for the sins of all mankind. We can now have the righteousness of God applied to our life and do not have to stand before Him in our "goodness" which is "filthy rags".
If you are beginning to have doubts in your own "goodness" . . . be glad. God can now begin to open your heart and reveal Himself to you. There is one who has the righteousness you need. Just remember; it will only take one sin in your life, anytime during your life, to send you straight to Hell. You don't neutralize a sin by doing a good work.
Titus 3:5 (KJV) Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
